HDO Plywood

HDO plywood is similar to MDO plywood . HDO plywood is a kind of exterior plywood bonded with thermosetting resin-impregnated high density overlay (HDO) . Sometimes HDO plywood is called HDO for short .

About HDO
HDO means High Density Overlay , which is another kind of thermosetting resin-impregnated fiber paper . HDO is similar to MDO (Medium Density Overlay) except that HDO is much denser and have better performance than MDO.

HDO Plywood  VS  MDO Plywood

1. Color Difference
The color of HDO and MDO are similar (both are wood-tone color) but different . Usually the color of MDO is dim, dark, wood-tone color and HDO is bright, light, wood-tone color . But other colors of MDO, HDO are also available .

HDO Plywood2. Production Process
The production processes of HDO and MDO are the same . Usually the grade of core veneers for HDO plywood is the same or better than the veneer grade for MDO plywood. The glue for HDO and MDO are both phenolic glue .

3. Inner Quality
HDO plywood has better performances than MDO plywood in resistance to water/moisture, weather, wear and chemical corrosion . MDO is less rugged than HDO plywood.

4. Field of Application
The applications of HDO and MDO are almost the same . Both of HDO and MDO are widely used in residential and commercial buildings, decoration, industrial workshops, concrete forming, furniture, boating building, sign .

However, because HDO is more durable and stronger, HDO can be used for applications requiring excellent durability and heavy load-bearing property. For example, HDO is more suitable for shuttering concrete form while general-use MDO can not be used for concrete form. Only special MDO can be used for concrete forming.
